This is paid if you enter Mexico under the condition of staying as a visitor without permission to carry out paid activities (tourism).

If you travel by air, you must pay the DNR when purchasing your plane ticket. If you do it by land or sea, you must pay it at any bank branch in Mexico or in the place where you enter the country. In exchange, you must receive proof of corresponding immigration rights, always presenting your passport and the multiple immigration form (FMM). that your reason for traveling is tourism or business, or others.

If you are Mexican and reside abroad, you will be exempt from payment only if you present any of the following Mexican accreditation documents.

■ Citizen identification card

■ Certified copy of birth certificate

■ Consular registration

■ Naturalization letter

■ Certificate of Mexican nationality

You will also be exempt if

1. You enter Mexico by land and your stay will be less than seven days.
2. Foreigners who carry a valid and current Mexican visa that certifies any condition of stay, other than that of a visitor without permission to carry out paid activities.
3. Foreigners with temporary or permanent residence in Mexico who have a current immigration form, formerly FM2 or FM3.
4. Foreigners who are diplomatic or have an official service visa.
5. Children under 2 years old.

The archaeological site of Chichén Itzá is currently blocked by local Mayan groups from the surrounding towns and cannot be visited. We are waiting for a quick solution. The conflict has been going on for many years between hundreds of local merchants for the archaeological site who are inhabitants of the surrounding towns who make a living selling handicrafts and the interest of the INAH (Archaeological Institute of Mexico) and Yucatan to protect the archaeological sites and to free them and keep them free from merchants.

Access to the Hacienda Chichén, Chichén and Villas Arqueológicas hotels have only been blocked once in recent days. As an alternative to Chichén Itzá, we recommend visiting Mayapán, the last Mayan capital of the Yucatán peninsula.

A new year has started and we want to look forward with optimism and confidence to what we hope will be a much better new year.

While we in Europe are all preparing for the resumption of tourism operations for the 2021 season, the Copper Canyon region continues to train all service personnel who look after our customers on site.

The Chepe train,the hotels and the National Park Barrancas del Cobre continue operating at around 50% of their capacity. Health and safety measures are implemented and monitored by the local health authorities, supported by the Chihuahua Tourist Offices, so that the tourists visiting the region can enjoy their trip without worries.

Important and good news for the destination is that the Chepe Express train operates with new departure times since January 11th. The new timetable offers to the passengers more convenient departure and arrival times in the Copper Canyon and in Creel.

1. First class Chepe Express: This is the highest category (96 passengers). This category allows access to the Domo “Urike” restaurant, a meal on board is included, which can be lunch, dinner or breakfast, as well as a snack and a national non-alcoholic drink. It allows access to the bar and has exclusive access to the terrace bar with panoramic view and sliding windows.

2. Executive Chepe Express: This category offers seats for 240 passengers. Access to the Domo “Urike” restaurant is allowed only on the ground floor. It does not include food. It offers access to the executive bar which has panoramic windows.

3. Tourist Chepe Express: This is the new category with capacity for 192 passengers. Access to the exclusive restaurant for tourist class. It does not include food. It does not allow access to the executive bar, the lounges or the terrace bar.

Today, Thursday December 17, the airline Viva Aerobús inaugurated the first flight from Los Mochis to Mexico City which will be operating twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays and has a capacity of 180 passengers.

This flight offers greater air connectivity to Los Mochis and allows access to the Copper Canyon. Additionally, Viva Aerobús operates two flights a week to Monterrey: Monday and Friday.

On September 23rd and 24th 2020, the first Digital Tourist Tianguis was held in Mexico and Amapa Tours was present promoting the attractions of the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua and the Chepe Express train. 

It was a digital meeting held as an effective and innovative alternative that has implemented a new strategy allowing the entire tourism sector in Mexico and its many destinations, without exception, have a virtual space to carry out the dissemination, promotion and marketing of our products and regional attractions. 

This new promotion modality has opened a window of opportunity for us to do very productive business and that without a doubt gave us the opportunity to contact new clients. This event is an example of innovation, creativity and adaptation, core elements to face the challenges imposed by the new reality and that contributes to make tourism a solid tool for social welfare.

Aeromexico increases international flight operations.

• It will restart operations in six destinations from Mexico City and one from Guadalajara
• It will increase frequencies to another seven destinations outside the country

For the month of October, Aeroméxico will operate about 30% more international flights compared to September. Thus, the company will have a presence in 28 destinations in the United States, Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

Restart of operations from Mexico City:

San José, Costa Rica – Guatemala, Guatemala – Lima, Peru, Medellin and Bogotá, Colombia – Buenos Aires, Argentina.

From Guadalajara, it will restart towards:

San Francisco, United States.

Destinations with increased frequencies:

Seoul, South Korea – Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – Paris, France, Quito, Ecuador – Sao Paulo, Brazil – Miami and Sacramento, United States.

With these modifications, Aeroméxico will increase its offer of kilometer seats (ASK) by 31% compared to September, through almost 1,100 international flights.

Mexico’s leading airline estimates that it will serve around 70 national and international destinations in October, with more than 9,300 scheduled flights.

AEROMEXICO – CANCUN – GUADALAJARA – LOS CABOS

Today the Guadalajara International Airport, operated by the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), celebrated the departure of the new flights that Aeroméxico will be operating from the Jalisco capital of Jalisco to Cancun and Los Cabos.

Aeroméxico will operate 7 weekly flights to and from Guadalajara on the Cancun route and 5 weekly flights on the Los Cabos route. Thanks to this, the airline will have an offer in this destination of more than 90 weekly flights, serving seven of the most important markets for the city of Guadalajara: Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey, Cancun, Los Cabos, Los Angeles and Chicago.

These new routes allow customers to extend their trip to Mexico from the city of tequila “Guadalajara” and the pearl of the Pacific “Los Cabos”. These destinations can be combined with your visit to the Copper Canyon.
