Chihuahua first, then the Chepe Express train and Copper Canyon

In Chihuahua you will first know the exciting story of Pancho Villa, the hero of the Mexican Revolution. Then you will visit the Mennonite community of Cuauhtémoc and the Magical Town of Creel where you will board worldwide known Chepe Express train. This railway line winds through high mountains to finally reach the Copper Canyon. On the edge of the Copper Canyon you will stay in a picturesque hotel that emerged after the construction of the railway line. Here you will experience the fascinating encounter with the indigenous peoples of the region: Los Rarámuris

Day 1

Friday: Arrival in Chihuahua

Arrival at the Chihuahua airport, welcome and transfer to the hotel in the center. During a walk through the historic city you will discover interesting old buildings, a visit to the cathedral, the government palace with its impressive murals by Aaron Piña and the Pancho Villa hero Museum of the Mexican Revolution are included.

Day 2

Saturday: Transfer from Chihuahua to Creel

Today you will be picked up at the reception after breakfast to begin your journey to Creel. We will make a stop in Cuauhtémoc, where you will visit a Mennonits family and the museum. Then we will continue to the logging town of Creel. Creel is the gateway to the Copper Canyon.

In the afternoon guided tour of Creel. Visit to Lake Arareco and the enigmatic rock formations in the Valley of the Monks. In a short walk you can appreciate the beauty of this valley made up of natural columns up to 50 meters high.

Day 3

Sunday: Train ride with the Chepe Express from Creel to Divisadero

Today you will enjoy the spectacular views of the Sierra Tarahumara aboard the Chepe Express and in the “Barrancas del Cobre” National Park.

At 7:00 am, your driver will be waiting for you at the hotel reception and will take you to the train station to start the journey to the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara. Throughout the route from Chihuahua to Los Mochis, the train crosses over 39 bridges and 86 tunnels, making the trip a fascinating experience. Today you will only do the section from Creel to Divisadero with breakfast on board the Urike Domo restaurant.

Arrival at Divisadero around 9:25 am. Welcome at the Divisadero train station and transfer to the hotel.

At 10:30 they will be waiting for you at the hotel reception to begin activities in the Barrancas del Cobre National Park. You will visit the viewpoint of “Piedra Volada”.

In the local market you can find a lot of handicrafts and souvenirs made by the Rarámuris. With your purchase you supports indigenous families.

Later visit to the National Park, where various outdoor activities are possible:

  1. Ride the longest cable car in Mexico (2,750 meters long)
  2. Ride the Zip Rider. A 2,550-meter route without intermediate towers
  3. “Via Ferrata” – Rappelling practice
  4. Zip lines with 7 stations

You can have lunch directly at the restaurant of the National Park. You can also do other outdoor activities. Then transfer back to the hotel.

The afternoon is free to take optional walks along the Copper Canyon. Visit a Tarahumara cave, where Rarámuri women offer travelers various handicrafts, such as baskets, dolls, or pottery.

After dinner, enjoy the wonderful tranquility of the night and the starry sky from the room’s balcony or from the hotel’s terrace.

Day 4

Monday: Transfer back to Chihuahua

From 8:00 am breakfast in the restaurant. Today you have the morning free to explore nature and the countryside on your own. You can ride a horse or walk along the edge of the ravine.

At 13:00 hrs the driver will await for you at the hotel reception to start the trip back to Chihuahua.

On the way they cross apple and walnut orchards and the nature of the valleys with a desert air that surround the state capital are present. Arrival in Chihuahua in the afternoon.

Day 5

Tuesday: Departure flight from Chihuahua

The morning is free, depending on the departure time, you can take optional tours. For example, a walk to the cathedral or a guided excursion to the “Nombre de Dios” caves. This mysterious stalactite cave is located in the north of Chihuahua, on the “Cerro del Caballo”.

This cave system extends over a length of 1,492 m. In the grotto you can see numerous stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes.

In order for us to prepare this excursion optimally, you must inform us 2 days in advance.

The trip ends with the transfer to the Chihuahua airport.
