Accompanied by the legendary Tarahumaras, travel to the Sierra Tarahumara also called Copper Canyon, while observing the beautiful starry night skies free of light pollution. The Copper Canyon is a wonderful place to observe the night sky, thanks to the total darkness and the absence of artificial lights that surround this place, the stars appear much brighter than during the day. To get there you travel on the only passenger train in Mexico: the Chepe Express crossing the incomparable Sierra Madre Occidental with the magnificent views it offers and appreciating one of the longest and deepest canyon systems in the world. Home of the Rarámuris indigenous people, who are famous for their ability to run long distances.

Day 1
Sunday: Arrival to Los Mochis
- Arrival in Los Mochis and welcome at the airport
- Transfer from the airport to El Fuerte
- Guided City tour in El Fuerte
- Overnight in El Fuerte
Transfer from the airport/bus station to the Magic Town of El Fuerte through one of the most fertile regions of northern Mexico.
In the afternoon, guided walk in El Fuerte. You will visit the beautiful Plaza Mayor, the government palace, the museum and some historical buildings.
Legend has it that El Fuerte was the birthplace of Diego de la Vega, better known by his nickname “El Zorro”. Do not miss the lively show offered to tourists “El Zorro” at the Hotel Posada del Hidalgo.

Day 2
Monday: Travel on the Chepe Express train from El Fuerte to Bahuichivo

- Transfer from the hotel in El Fuerte to the train station
- Travel on the Chepe Express train from El Fuerte to Bahuichivo
- Welcome in Bahuichivo and transfer to the hotel in the town of Cerocahui or San Isidro.
- Overnight in Cerocahui or San Isidro
After a delicious Mexican breakfast, transfer to the train station.
The Chepe Express adventure through the Sierra Madre Occidental begins in El Fuerte. Shortly after El Fuerte, the train will cross the longest bridge (“Agua Caliente”) of the entire route, which is 499 m long and crosses the Fuerte River.
This is followed by the longest tunnel (“El Descanso”) at 1838m. Along the course of the Septentrion river it goes up into the mountains. You will see the most spectacular train ride on the entire railway in daylight.
Arrival at the Bahuichivo train station and transfer to your hotel.
At night, first sky observation activity

Day 3
Tuesday: Cerro del Gallego Lookout point and Sky Observation

- Lookout point of Cerro del Gallego, the deepest in the set of Barrancas
- Visit to a Tarahumara cave
- Observation of the Sky
- Overnight in Copper Canyon
Today you will visit the “Cerro del Gallego” Lookout point where you will enjoy an impressive panorama over the town of Urique at the top of the canyon.
You will then visit a small cave where the Tarahumara Indigenous sell their traditional baskets woven with pine needles and other handicrafts.
In the afternoon, transfer to the Copper Canyon and a guided walk to the Lookout points and a Rarámuri cave.
At night, second sky observation activity in a very special place without light pollution on the edge of the Copper Canyon

Day 4
Wednesday: Copper Canyon Adventure Park and Chepe Regional

- Excursion to "Piedra Volada" and the National Park "Barrancas del Cobre"
- Visit to the local market in Divisadero
- Chepe Regional Tourist from Creel to Chihuahua
- Overnight in Chihuahua
Guided excursion to the Lookout point “Piedra Volada” and several viewpoints. Here three of the largest canyons converge: the Urique, Cobre and Tararecua canyons.
On the way to the National Park you can stop on some of the platforms with crystals that give the impression of floating in the air.
After lunch, transfer to the train station to board the Regional Chepe from Divisadero to Chihuahua
Overnight in Chihuahua
Day 5
Thursday: Chihuahua city tour and departure flight

- Breakfast at the hotel
- Walk through the historic city of Chihuahua
- Transfer from the hotel to airport
In the morning tour through a selected area of the city of Chihuahua: From the “Zócalo”, surrounded by various colonial buildings, to other impressive sites, such as the museum of Pancho Villa, the hero of the Mexican Revolution. Finally, visit the Quinta Gameros Museum.
Your Copper Canyon stargazing tour ends with transfer to the Chihuahua airport.
